Agreed.

I always argued with birdbird because he made random looking jungle-type levels and he said it was because "land isn't supposed to be straight and clean" but he did the same kind of tiling inside houses, in towns, on man-made paths, etc.
I always though that was awfully ugly too. =\

It's okay to get a little more wild on outside forest and swamp type levels.. but in towns there should just be grass, some bushes, and nice man-groomed looking scenery. Not wild trees growing halfway into your building.
Pathways that are near towns should be a bit straighter and more man-made, then the weird jungly natural pathways found in forests.. since, the paths were probably made by man and not just natural wear and tear.
Thats in real life, on graal it can be different to make it look beautiful instead same ol' same ol'

All paths are generally made by man, since man is mainly the only thing that travels through the same area, and generally takes the same route (which would be the easiest route) meaning a path would form.

Personally I think the level could use a little bit more, but to say that detail means you have to have crazy looking paths, trees everywhere, and swamp/messy grass tiles mixed in all over the levels is insane.

Of course this is all just my personal opinion, other people have different views on "detail"

Depends of the kind of the server...

Just trust me that it is going to be nice, theres already a half way done quest with about 7 levels.. theres no baddies in it, just neat NPCs that make the quest hard. There are stone thingies that move back and forth, if they touch you it hurts. Theres some weird black hole thing that sucks you in if you dont run away good enough. Sekshe is helping a lot, so it should be fine:D

I will post the map in a little bit or maybe tommorow

EBIL!

Yeah, those evil gray lil statue things are very fun!! Muahahaha. It took me forever to script, though. And even then i had some help from some old friends. i'll post a screenshot of them blowing me to peices when i finish my snow town work for babylon. But anyways, our playerworld will have...junk in it, and we're still planning, and we need help from an LAT or NAT or two.

Here's my screenshot of them evil gray statues. Oh yeah, i was lazy and didn't do it right so there's some wrong colors. For instance, the tiles are blue, not greenish. And the castle walls are lighter...heh, i messed up taking that screenshot. Oh well, this gives you an idea..

Umm... to me the map looks quite plain. It looks like the stuff is in the corners and the sides of the map and no stuff like forests or such in the middle plain area.

I wish you good luck though. Hope it will be more done soon!

There will be turkey hunting, sheep hunting, chicken hunting, and each animal has a diffrent ammount of meat. There will be mining, blacksmithing, cooking and selling of the meats, and a lot of other neat NPCs.

The levels are nice too, not too full and not too empty:cool:

Zylot - Owner
Sekshe - CoOwner

It honestly does lack detail. It is possible to use too much detail.

Bravo had sucky levels, but yet it was one of the greatest servers of all time. I I guess I prove myself wrong.. The level quality should be good enough to pass..

Spectre1337 02-23-2002 03:33 AM

the empty levels arent going to stay empty, every level will be filled before its submitted :) It will be a great server for new and old players (if it gets up)

Spectre1337 02-23-2002 03:42 AM

I suck at adding detail, so i need someone to add it for me. :P

Well anyways, i don't think our server's going to be the average server. It's going to have all these funky NPC's that no one's ever seen before, and funky levels and stuff like that...we don't want just a normal and plain server, that will get boring. Anyway, if we send it to the PW Tester and he doesn't accept it, then we'll remodel it, make it better, then a little later send it back in. And yes, we do need critisizm, we need to know what we're doing wrong, whats good, what's bad, stuff like that. Keep on talking, people.

Uhm, those look and act exactly like the Sardon's Tower statues...
