I have never understood this. Pixel count does not matter, what matters is that it looks nice. Using too few colors just makes it look crappy.

I'm afraid I agree entirely with Chris on this point.

I'm not even going to start argumenting on that with you Stephen, but I don't know what the hell is wrong with you.

You said "The bigger the palette the bigger the size."

His entire lineup of bottles is 1.2 KB. The single bottle would be a fraction of that.

Broadband is 500-2000 KB/s. Even dialup is 7 KB/s.

???

Please don't start on this. All I'm saying is that it's just a freaking bottle. He's obviously PIXELATING it. Please tell me how to get such big palette by placing pixels one by one ? He's obviously trying to get better aswell, but then again, tell me how can you get better at PIXEL ART if you use anything else than paint ? A simple bottle doesn't require such big palette to look nice. Redo the bottle yourself with a lowered palette and you will end up with the same result to the eye.

Please don't hurt my feelings again.

I believe that is the sentiment Chris and I both agree upon.

At 192 distinct colors over an object ~ 10px wide and 25px high, I would prefer to believe he is not pixeling it.

It's funny you assume that just because this appears small enough to be on Graal, it's actually pixel art, since, you know, Graal totally limits itself to just pixel art. It's obviously not pixel art because, as you said, the colour count is way to high.

Also, pixel art can be produced and you can get better at it with ANY program. Hell, you may even learn the technique of self-control by using an advanced raster editor, since you're you limit yourself to basic features.

Again, as said before, why does the colour count really matter? If you can watch videos on youtube, which the majority of the world obviously can, the colour count of images really doesn't matter.

Not sure how you came up with that but I've just checked his images and they don't contain that many colours.

I got 7. I'd be willing to bet Aeko accidentally checked the scaled thumbnail image.

EDIT: Yep. This is with the forum-generated thumbnail:

Besides the fact it's already been covered... if it's pixel art(as in you're actually pixelling it), color-count DOES matter. Why? Because if you manage your palette, it ends up less work for you. You no longer need to constantly pick new colors as you can just eyedrop a nearby color off the picture or palette that you need. It's just easier and faster to use existing colors than it is to create them.

Finaly someone agreeing. This is what I've been trying to explain.
By the way I really thought the bottle had 192 colors (being on iPhone I can't check it out myself) so if its just the forum thumbnail...
Shame on you Aeko :p

Your probably saved it as a JPEG? Which makes the graphics blurry like when zoomed in, save as PNG.

And try getting Gimp 2.6, amazing program and 100 % free. :fro:
