Oh yeah and paying for my studies in a private school to ensure myself a bright future isn't a good enough reason? It will always be my priority though.

If I didn't have Ruins as a project, I would have quit quite some months ago. And I already told everyone, I'm not easily giving up. Read below.

Levels, graphics, animations, and concepts can all be done without a server (and if Testbed ever comes back, you can test scripts out there).

I would accept help if I could have it on my account while having someone else pay for it. Only one problem, what will the person renting the server for me ask for? Rights? I just don't want to host it somewhere else, and having someone pay for me is just too odd and complex.

I will continue the project offline though, but with testbed offline and me not going to have money to spend around anytime soon, Ruins won't be back online before a long time.

Secondly, you could read the last page to know that Ruins is dead right now and I don't plan on continuing it even if some people offered me servers to host it on.

It would be nice if you would close/delete the thread then.

No.

While I sympathise for the loss of something that has undoubtedly received alot of effort towards it having done a large part towards a set of Core Systems myself it does amaze me how servers that are at some point deemed "a matter of weeks away from Classic/Gold tab" never quite make that jump up over the following months until they're abandoned :p.

To anybody reading this and thinking "I'm going to make a server and it's going to be special", there is an unfathomable amount of work required for it to become a reality and that's even if you do have scripting prowess which ofcourse is very difficult to find.

From what I remember the last server to make the breakthrough to the Classic Tab which was Zodiac (over 4 years ago now) had been worked on for atleast 14 months possibly more until it did, even with Classic it's been about the same amount of time since we wiped and began rebuilding it, while still progressing it's by no means a guarantee it will make the breakthrough certainly any time soon.

Personally as much effort was placed into Ruins, I think that the lack of scripting ability was their biggest downfall of all. They still had quite a lot but all of this time they've had for it has been done squeezed the most they could out of the current scripting resources at hand. But to me It's really sad because this server had humongous potential. I would actually be rather happy to play on it if it just had normal run around quests (Not too far off from iPhone classic beginnings) and with that being said, I really hope "a long time" is not long enough to wither away the hope and possibility of this server entirely.

It'll come back with a new name and different management just like the other 3 times. Looking forward to it.

Soala, you could probably find some empty server to host your stuff on. I know of people who have servers in subscription serving no purpose, and I'm sure at least of one of them would be willing to host Ruins.

Don't be so sure, Zero(zokemon) got some help for Atexia which was awesome. However he was an extremely talented scripter.

Unless someone is willing to send money on my paypal, I will not accept other any other server to be a new home for Ruins.

If I recall correctly, Elk received some help for Crystia too.

There's also something people are not getting, but I will tell you once more: Ruins IS Crystia, in some way.

The real Crystia, still being another project directed by Elk, is a complete different story, which only a few people know about.

Not anymore

I wouldn't put my work on another server either, I wouldn't take the chance of someone denying me access to my work and then taking credit for it. You would have to involve the PWA to resolve the issue which could take weeks, and then in the end you don't even want to continue anymore and the server dies. We all know this is a very likely scenario.

I wouldn't put my work on anyone elses server again either, I've done that a couple of times and it always ends up with the "hoster" demanding this and that.

Not just that, things like conflict of interest or an argument could cause the person to just start deleting stuff. Also you would have to deal with them constantly trying to mold your server how they think it should be.
