I can't really confirm anything since I don't have a new Linux 64-bit build. It's probably still happening though since it seemed unrelated to any of the fixes Stefan mentioned. (And Chris just confirmed.)

fowlplay4 07-14-2010 01:11 AM

Security issue: openurl stills opens without a prompt to ask the user if they'd like to go to the URL passed to it.

DustyPorViva 07-14-2010 05:25 AM

Cursor change hangs on the playerlist(Hover over the border of the playerlist window and then move the mouse inside, it stays stuck on the "adjust window size" cursor).

edit: I think this happens until you click a player. It was doing it for a while and then I just couldn't get it to do it anymore.

edit2: Okay I think it only happens after you've opened a PM.

DustyPorViva 07-14-2010 05:43 AM

The text cursor seems off(it has been since scripted windows were introduced, but the new cursor helps verify it). It needs to "round off" to the next character, if you understand.
http://i30.tinypic.com/1eork6.jpg
The above screenshot shows where I'm clicking, and where the text caret is being placed.

Highlighting text and letting go of the mouse outside of the external window causes the highlighting to get "stuck" in highlight mode, instead of stopping. Forcing you to to be precise and stay within the window to highlight text(who does that?).

PM bubbles in the playerlist don't sync with each other. Moving your mouse over players with blinking bubbles causes the highlighted players bubbles to get out of sync.

When pm bubbles blink, they don't show the player's head. They simply blink to the bubble then to nothing.

Bug update: the playerlist seems to go on a docking-seizure when I start Graal, but it only happens randomly. I just opened Graal and my desktop started flickering/resizing rapidly and then the playerlist was docked(in the middle of my screen, I might add)... I see no options for playerlist docking, but I always keep it OFF. This little bug messes up the organization of my desktop :/

suggestion: Add format options for text along with the text size in the options. Allow players to define if text should be bold, italic, and so on.

A new version has been given to Skyld and will be available soon.
Updates:
- fixed some crashes with NPCs using ganis
- should be faster on Era now
- when a window loses focus then the keys and mouse buttons are released so that the player should not continue to walk anymore and the cursor should correctly be updated when switching back to a PM or the playerlist
- clicking on text is moving the cursor to nearest character instead of the character below the cursor

cbk1994 07-15-2010 12:41 AM

What specific changes were made to improve performance on Era?

fowlplay4 07-15-2010 01:00 AM

Hopefully it fixes the crash I have been having with attachplayer/detachplayer.

Skyld 07-15-2010 04:02 PM

I've uploaded it for testers now.

Crono 07-15-2010 04:06 PM

Gani problem fixed. :)

Windows still open where your current mouse pointer is rather than being centered or where they were when last closed. :(

Font also looks pretty bad. :(

zephirot 07-15-2010 05:15 PM

Stefan why don't you put up a SVN instead of bothering Skyld about it and not letting everyone test it, are you that lazy

DustyPorViva 07-15-2010 05:25 PM

When trying to highlight text in a MLtext control(like a PM), if the mouse click isn't started on the same line as a text, it doesn't highlight the last character.

It's not like this is less work for stefan, and it isn't called a beta test for no reason.

fowlplay4 07-15-2010 06:38 PM

The bug related to attachplayer/detachplayer (boatglitch) on Zodiac has been fixed in the new client.

It's still in closed beta test, if things are advancing then we can go soon to public beta test.
Please always try to explain a lit bit more when reporting bugs or problems.
"Fonts are ugly" -> post a screenshot where (and may be one screenshot with the better font)

Well, fonts blur when being resized instead of staying crisp.
http://i26.tinypic.com/1z4jrlk.jpg
edit: In fact, it seems bodies do as well O.o

As well as my aforementioned suggestion to allow us to change the format(bold, italic and so on) of the text(in the options along with the text size).

As you can see the font in the Windows V5 client font is fairly smaller, and doesn't look bold unlike the V6 client. On Zodiac I had to modify the zoom values of font's shown with images by 0.1 and TextCtrl's fontsize by 2 to emulate V5 fonts as best as I could.

The font is nice, but the increased size and boldness to it is what's causing the problems and disgust/resistance most players will have with it.

cbk1994 07-15-2010 09:18 PM

The new font rendering engine would be perfect if you would compensate by lowering the text size slightly to emulate the old engine.

Quick comparison.

The v5 text is a bit bolder and easier to read (using bitmap fonts of course because Graal is unplayable without it on vista and windows 7) but on v6 it's too thin and a bit longer making it dip into the heads too much compared to the old.

The biggest problem is that it's harder to read it compared to the old. If it could be changed to be slightler smaller and bold then it might help. Not sure about which font exactly should be used. :(

xAndrewx 07-15-2010 09:35 PM

showani (or findimg(1).ani) wont display for others (<200 ind). should fix!! (Only for classes, weapons work fine)

_Zelph 07-15-2010 10:50 PM

I would help test more, but my stupid PCID changes every time I start my computer, and it takes long enough to find someone who can update it to be allowed on the new client without having to do it every day.

I hope there's a public beta held for a reasonable amount of time so I can get an actual chance to prepare for it.

xAndrewx 07-18-2010 10:40 PM

are you going to fix this

Ok in the next version it will use better font rendering for some font types, still using the existing font rendering for Arial and Verdana.

Thank you :).

Did you get the window opening bug down? Can explain it better.

The one where windows open at mousex/mousey?

yeah

fowlplay4 07-19-2010 04:41 AM

I think support for external windows has to be improved because you can't edit them like you would an internal window.

Support for things like changing x, y, canmove, canresize, and so on still needs to be added.

Windows opening on the center of the mousex, mousey are still quite annoying and should be changed.

Skyld 07-20-2010 01:54 AM

PM windows now have resizable frames.

Admins 07-20-2010 11:43 PM

So the new version is perfect except the window position?

I don't think so... pretty sure highlighting hasn't been fixed, or a few other things posted.

fowlplay4 07-21-2010 01:17 AM

I also get a pretty random bug with GuiTextEditCtrls, where it doesn't let me type anymore characters and just replaces the last character with the next character you type.

TSAdmin 07-21-2010 04:35 AM

Would it be possible for some people to post a couple of critical or important things that they know of need fixing that have yet to be fixed? As the list is growing smaller and the forum pages are growing larger, it's slightly difficult to find every last issue that may have been overlooked.

Crono 07-21-2010 05:12 AM

would be nice to see the playerlist's appearance resemble that of the old external playerlist we have on v5. it can still be a graal window as you insist but can it atleast have the same color standards, those tab lines, centered bold text saying "staff, buddies, guild, normal" etc? :(

the profile window could also use a little work. the old one has the account/nick in big letters making it easy to see while the new one only has it written in small text on the top window bar. that default blue gui is also quite bad for a default skin, text is very hard to read and its not very pleasing. maybe we can find/edit a better one.

Umat 07-21-2010 11:22 AM

CJ should've set up some bugreport system where players can report bugs, and whenever they're fixed, stefan just marks them as fixed. There's some good free ones out there.

There is one built into the forums (Projects at the top), but it's just unused.

Please, no, unless you can choose to use the blue GUI profiles.

Because I detest the external playerlist and all of its characteristics.

You prefer GuiBlue over native controls...?
